The City of Monroe’s Water Resources Department will be conducting a water main replacement project along W. Jefferson Street between N. Bragg Street and South Charlotte Avenue beginning Tuesday, September 3 through Friday, November 29.

Please be aware that temporary road closures will occur within the project limits with the exception to local residents and businesses. Residents using the City parking lots at the Bazemore Active Adult Center will not have access to W. Jefferson Street during the project.

Emergency service vehicle access will be provided at all times. Normal collection of garbage and residential/commercial deliveries will be provided access.

The Water Resources Construction Division will be replacing approximately 2,002 linear feet of existing 2-inch and 4-inch steel water main with a new 8-inch High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) main. The improvements will enhance water service to customers in this area.

There may be a short-term interruption to water service during construction of the new water main, and the Water Resources Department will make every effort to notify customers in advance. 

All damaged/disturbed items will be restored or replaced at the end of the project.
